Deb Police honed her skills and gained knowledge about many species of plants and flowers at a very young age, working in her grandmother's flower shop. Today, her facsination with gardening has grown and she is now mentored and trained by a certified master gardener. 

Course Description:

This fun course will teach the basic science of seeds, how they grow, and what they need from nature, bugs, and rain. Each student will grow their own small garden, while their knowledge of basic gardening blooms!

KINDERGARTEN - 8TH GRADE

SWFL Adrenaline

SWFL Adrenaline teaches soccer by playing soccer and relating various soccer moments to game solutions. All players who attend will gain the skills and knowledge they need to play with confidence.

Course Description

This exciting course is designed to develop each student's skill foundation and give them the knowledge they need to contine developing throughout the year. Our curriculum is tailored to the cognitive soccer development needs of various ages and skill levels. Regardless if your student is a beginner or an advanced player, our experienced coaching team will maximize your student's potential and improve their knowledge of the world's most popular game.

Diana Hensley holds two Master's Degrees in Education: one in Experiential Education and one with an emphasis in Spanish.

Course Description:

¡Hola! This exciting course will introduce students to basic Spanish vocabulary, verbs, concepts, and culture in an engaging and interactive way. We will learn through games, songs, role playing, books, and more. We will jump right in, as 50%-70% of our time will be speaking Spanish! ¡Bien!

Ashley Monastra teaches 3D Animation and Storyboarding at the high school level and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Animation. She has also worked as a professional animator on a major feature film and teaching artist for Kindergarten through 8th grade students. 

Course Description:

Have you ever read a story and wished it could come to life? Now you can through the magic of animation! Explore character and set design, storyboard your ideas, and more as we work together as a producation team and use digital technology to create an original stop-motion animation!

Chef Pyro is a trained chef who has a passion for teaching and his community, He loves to pass this same passion along to his students with a unique approach to culinary arts education.

Course Description:

We all love to eat, but only a future chef can appreciate the art of creating culinary experiences that appeal to all 5 senses! This fun and interactive course will cover the basics of culinary arts from health and safety in the kitchen, to Sauté and frying techniques, braising, roasting, and desserts. Join us on this delicious adventure!

Gaetano Ferlazzo has been an educator for 32 years in middle, high school, and upper education at Edison Community College. He is currently on staff as a guitar instructor at FGCU and has taught on the History of American Popular Music.

Course Description:

This intensive course will feature an introduction to the world of strings, picks, tuning, and more! Learn basic acoustic guitar skills, including music theory on the fretboard and strings as well as basic notes and strumming patterns. Students will be expected to supply their own nylon, six-string acoustic guitar, guitar picks, tuner, and extra guitar sirings.

Jodie De Salvo has been a musician all her life and teaching music since the age of 14. She enjoys passing her love of music to her students and seeing how much they grow through a collaborative experience.

Course Description:

Do you love to sing? So do we! Our student vocalists will learn proper breathing techniques and the fundamentals of singing. From two, three, and four-part harmony to a variety of repertoire from Classical to Broadway, we are sure to make beautiful music together!

Dr. Trent Brown has earned Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting, Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Music. He is currently Assistant Professor of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University. Prior to his current position, Dr. Brown taught public high school for eight years. 

Course Description:

Warm up your pipes for an intensive week of vocal training and performance! Enjoy learning a variety of choral works from all throughout history and practice your multi-lingual diction. Showcase your skills in an end-of-week performance and sharpen your musicianship in this exciting week of musical fun!

We’re going to scribble and sketch and flex our skills as we experience new artistic styles! Join us as we learn about realism, abstract art, and sketching. Come practice your technique and express yourself in brand new ways!

Judd Cribbs was a journalist for 25 years and a high school teacher who now works at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Course Description:

We’re going to see the news in a new light! Does easy access to information through mainstream and social media make us smarter or better? We will assess the evolution of information sharing and consider how to develop discernment for incoming information. We will become news literate as we shed light on best practices in journalism, social media, and other platforms.
